As an ex-teacher, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of cyberbullying firsthand: emotional trauma, academic struggles, social isolation, physical health issues, and even risks of self-harm. This Internet Safety Day (11th February), let’s confront this issue head-on. Cyberbullying is a serious problem with real-world consequences—and it’s time we take action.
Recent Stories That Shocked Me:
• A 13-year-old suspended for creating a poll asking classmates to vote on who was the “ugliest.”
• A 12-year-old impersonating a peer online and posting damaging content.
• A group of teens investigated for running a hate page targeting multiple students.
These actions aren’t just cruel—they can also be illegal. Last week, a 17-year-old was arrested for malicious communications after abusing a footballer and his wife online.
